Staying Alive (50+) Event // Gracia Burnham

For 17 years, Gracia and Martin Burnham served with New Tribes Mission in the Philippines. They were taken captive by a militant group, and in the ensuing months, some of the hostages were killed, but most were set free. [br]For more than a year under total control of their captors, they were constantly on the move living in primitive conditions in the jungle, evading capture from the Philippine military, enduring gun battles, and witnessing unspeakable atrocities. [br]On the afternoon of June 7, 2002, over a year since their abduction, the Philippine military attempted another rescue. Tragically, Martin was killed during the gunfight. Wounded, but alive, Gracia was rescued and returned home. Since that time, Gracia has authored two books, [em]In The Presence Of My Enemies[/em], and [em]To Fly Again[/em]. [br]Gracia will be talking about the spiritual lessons she learned during her captivity, how God changed her, and how she lives this season of life with purpose. [br]Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here online beginning October 3, or will be available at the Publications Center the weekends of October 20/21, 27/28 and November 3/4.
