CORE Elective // Biblical Understanding - Gospel of Matthew

[strong]Purpose of the Series[/strong][br] The purpose of the Core Classes at Lincoln Berean Church (LBC) is to ground God’s people in those fundamental portions of Scripture and theology that clearly outline who God is, his intention in creating humans, and to outline his ongoing salvific work on behalf of his creation through his Son, Jesus, and the empowering presence of his Holy Spirit.[br][br][strong]Purpose of the Class[/strong][br]The Gospel of Matthew has been one of the most treasured writings of the Christian faith. In fact, throughout the history of the early church, Matthew’s was the most widely read and frequently used Gospel. In it we find the story of Jesus’ birth, the Sermon on the Mount, critical teachings on the Kingdom of God, Jesus’ rebuke of any sense of earning God’s favor, the Crucifixion, Resurrection, and the Great Commission. Needless to say, this Gospel has much to teach us about being disciples. During this class we will study Jesus’ life and words, seeking to be with him so that we may become more like him.
